I became so homesick I drove across the state. I guess I am at a loss, because I arrived late in the day. I couldn't do any more than drive around and remember my days at Flagler. It is too bad I had so little time in the "new" St. Augustine. I must say I was impressed. It was the same energy, but somehow the town had evolved into someplace more vibrant than during my stay there. There was more of everything. More buildings. More stores. More restaurants. St. Augustine Beach was a world unto itself...I have never seen so many businesses thrive. I wish it would infect New York state. Many of the towns are dying out. Yes, there are exceptions. I also marvel at New Smyrna Beach and the real estate there. I had forgotten why people come to Florida. In my youth, I had to escape...Photo by me. Painting by K. David.
